What is a bite plate?

It is an acrylic piece that has been moulded to your teeth that has to be worn during the day or at night to prevent the top teeth from coming into contact with the bottom ones.

Bite plates are generally the ideal solution for people who suffer from the following conditions:

• Bruxism (cleaning and grinding of the teeth)

• TMJ disorders

• Neuromuscular problems

What does a bite plate do?

• Absorbs some of the stress from grinding and clenching

• Relaxes the jaw muscles to ease tension

• Relieves jaw joints (TMJ) and decreases pain

• Limits the progression of tooth decay caused by bruxism as well as the deterioration of the supporting bone
